A word of advice for high school leavers

So all my life I was told to do well in the HSC (exams undertaken to enter into University) and attain the highest marks possible. This will then hopefully allow you to be educated at the best University and obtain a ‘breadwinning’ profession with that degree.

However I think it is absolutely absurd to allow 16 or 17 year olds to decide what how their future will pan out for them. I am looking back at my high school days and somewhat had an idea as to what I wanted to do.

So here’s an advice there for you high school leavers, study hard in your final high school year but don’t stress about what you’re going to in University! Study something that is broad, like me, I am currently doing a Bachelor of Science/Advanced Mathematics. This degree has allowed me to discover that I didn’t like Mathematics and Science as much as I liked it in high school, but it helped me explore other fields like engineering and design.

So, don’t make transitioning from high school to University hard on yourselves. University is just another puzzle piece into finding out who you are and what you like. Don’t lock yourself into one career path, allow many options because you never know what you are really set on unless you try it

Happy days, Happy days

It only feels like yesterday when I first spoke to my girlfriend. Four months down the track she still manages to make butterflies flutter in my stomach, make my blood vessels rush around my body 100 miles per hour and make me blush every time I see her beautiful face and hear her angelic voice. It amazes me how we still until this day tell each other how amazing the other is and how much we love each other.

Ever since I have known her, there has never been a moment in time where I have stopped thinking about her. Ever since I have said ‘I love you’, there has not been a day where i loved her the same as yesterday. As a matter of fact, yesterday I would would love her half as much as today, and tomorrow I know I would love her twice as much as today. So basically I love my girlfriend more and more every single day.

Baby, you’re my first love. You will forever have a place in my heart. I will always love you.
